CHRISTMAS AT HILLSBOROUGH LIGHT TRAIL

Hillsborough Light Trail returns to Hillsborough Castle and Gardens again this December. Almost half of the castle’s 100 acres of gardens have been transformed into a winter wonderland. Visitors can marvel at glittering tunnels of light and a dazzling Yew Tree Walk and even have a glimpse into Santa’s workshop. Our rigging and lighting crew have braved the harsh November weather conditions to ensure that everything was ready on time. The event runs from 1st December 2022 until 1st January 2023.

BRIT AWARDS 2021

BRIT AWARDS AT THE O2 LONDON

We've been in London for the past 10 days assisting StageCo Belgium on the Brit Awards overseen by StageCo's Kevin De Meyer. The ceremony was a test event permitted by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport to have a large audience to assess whether more such gatherings can take place. Although the venue normally has a capacity of 20,000 the audience was restricted to 4,000 who were allowed into the arena without any requirement for social distancing or face masks. Part of the government's Scientific Events Research Programme fans must have proof of a negative lateral flow test result to get in and provide contact details for NHS Test & Trace. All crew and working personnel were subjected to compulsory testing every 3 days.

Good riddance to 2020!

2020 has been a very quiet year for our retail clients but Santa still doesn’t let a coronavirus pandemic get in the way of celebrating Christmas. Our rigging and event crew were back at a deserted Victoria Square this week derigging the last remnants of a very lacklustre festive season. All of the decorations have now been dismantled and safely stored away in the hope for a more joyous celebration in 2021!

The Blame Game on BBC NI

SET BUILDING FOR FILM & TELEVISION

Set building crew teams from Stagecrew Ireland are back at BBC Blackstaff Studios this week working on the season's last episode of The Blame Game. That's our very own popular comedy news quiz featuring the best of local Irish comedy talent including Tim McGarry, Jake O'Kane, Neil Delamere and Colin Murphy. Highly recommended if you need a little humorous respite from the doom and gloom of Covid-19, Brexit and impending Christmas 2020!

Production on this series has been further complicated due to coronavirus as additional strict procedures had to be put in place to facilitate social distancing in the workplace. Besides the obvious face coverings and sanitizers, each department had staggered load-in and derig slots to avoid overcrowding in the studio.

All of our local crew in Belfast and Dublin have undertaken recognised industry standard certified COVID-19 prevention training to allow them to continue working in this challenging environment.

BELFAST EVENT CREW BUSY IN TRAINING!

Although work for our event crew in Belfast has been sparse recently due to lockdown restrictions, we have been using this time constructively to update training and renew certifications.

As we had been doing increasing amounts of work in TV & Film all crew have now completed industry recognised "Coronavirus Basic Awareness On Production Training" with ScreenSkills.

Meanwhile our riggers have been renewing specialist plant and MEWP licences so that they're ready to go as soon as life returns to normal!
